🐾 HOW MANY DIFFERENT BREEDS DO YOU SELL?We specialise in breeding purebred Miniature Dachshunds. We believe in the importance of focusing on only one breed to ensure the highest quality of care and attention for our dogs. Therefore, we do not sell any other breeds. Our goal is to provide our customers with healthy, happy, and well-socialised Miniature Dachshunds that make great additions to their fur-ever families.

🐾 HOW OFTEN ARE THE DAMS (Mother Dachshunds) BRED?We adhere to a strict breeding schedule that ensures our Dams are not overbred. We typically breed our Dams once every 12 months, depending on their individual health and fertility. This allows for optimal recovery time between litters and ensures that each litter is healthy and thriving. We also closely monitor our Dams during pregnancy and provide them with the best possible care to ensure a smooth and safe delivery.
-
🐾 HOW OLD ARE THE DAMS (Mother Dachshund) WHEN THEY HAVE PUPPIES?Our dams (mother dogs) are typically between 2 and 5 years old when they have their first litter, and we retire them from breeding by the age of 7 or 8. This ensures that they have ample time to mature physically and mentally before starting their breeding career, and also allows us to prioritise their long-term health and happiness. We ensure that all of our Dams are in excellent health and have passed all necessary health screenings before they are bred. This helps to ensure that they produce healthy and happy puppies that will make wonderful pets for their new families.

🐾 HAVE GENETIC TESTS BEEN DONE ON THE PARENTS (Dam & Sire)?Yes, at Diamond Lane Dachshunds we prioritise the health and well-being of our dogs and their offspring. Before breeding, we ensure that both the Dam and Sire undergo an Orivet Full Breed Profile™ screening covering a series of Miniature Dachshund specific genetic tests to rule out any hereditary health conditions that may be passed down to their puppies. These tests include but are not limited to Progressive retinal atrophy (PRA), Myxomatous mitral valve disease (MMVD), Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis 1 (Dachshund Type), Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI), Sanfilippo Syndrome Type A / Mucopolysaccharidosis IIIA (Dachshund Type) and Sarcoglycan Deficient Muscular Dystrophy (SDMD). We work with reputable veterinarians and Orivet Genetic Pet Care to ensure that our dogs are healthy and fit to breed. We are happy to provide our clients with copies of the test results upon request.
-
🐾 CAN I MEET THE PARENTS?Yes, we encourage all potential buyers to meet the parents of our puppies. This helps to ensure that you are getting a healthy and well-tempered puppy. We are happy to arrange a meeting with the parents at our home or via video call if an on-site visit is not possible. We believe that meeting the parents will give you a better understanding of the temperament and characteristics of the puppy you are interested in.
-
🐾 WHAT DO THE PUPPIES EAT?We believe in providing our puppies with the best possible nutrition to ensure their health and growth. Diamond Lane Dachshunds has partnered with Lyka Pet Food to make sure our puppies are fed nutritious human-grade puppy food that is formulated specifically using wholefood ingredients to ensure they have all the necessary nutrients for growth and development. Alternatively, our puppies love their Royal Canin Puppy Mini wet and dry food and we will provide you with some Royal Canin samples in your Puppy Welcome Pack as well as a discount voucher should you select Lyka Pet Food as your preferred puppy food. We also provide our puppies with fresh water at all times. As a responsible dog breeder, we are committed to providing our puppies with the best possible start in life, and proper nutrition is an essential part of that commitment.

🐾 WHEN ARE THE PUPPIES AVAILABLE TO ADOPT?We understand the excitement of bringing a new puppy into your home. We strive to provide each of our puppies with the best care possible to ensure they are healthy, happy, and ready to join their new family. The availability of our puppies varies depending on the litter and the individual needs of each puppy. We typically do not have puppies available to adopt until they are at least 10 weeks old and have received their first set of vaccinations and are microchipped. To stay updated on when our puppies will be available, we recommend checking our website and social media pages regularly for announcements and updates. You can also contact us directly to inquire about upcoming litters and adoption availability.

🐾 HOW DO I ADOPT A PUPPY IF I LIVE INTERSTATE?We welcome puppy adoption requests from dog lovers all across the country. If you live interstate, we can arrange for your selected puppy to be flown to your nearest airport, anywhere across Australia. The best part is, it's not as expensive as you'd think with the average travel costs being between $250 and $350. All you need to do is select your preferred puppy from our available litters and contact us to arrange a video call or send you additional photos and videos of your chosen puppy. If you decide to proceed with the adoption, we then ask you to pay the $500 adoption fee deposit, and provide us with your details and nearest airport location. We work with Departure Pets to arrange safe and comfortable travel for your puppy and ensure that your new fur-baby arrives safely at your door.
